Eric Lonla, M.D, M.P.H, PhD

Dr. Eric Lonla, M.D, M.P.H, Ph.D is currently working as an M&E consultant for the Global Fund. Previously, he occupied the position of TB consultant in Angola (Mai 2016-December 2016), health manager in Mauritania (2013-2015), Ivory Coast (2011-2013), Zimbabwe (2010-2011), and Rwanda (2009-2010) for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Dr Lonla brings technical support to national authorities (Ministry of health & Ministry of Justice) in order to improve access to health.

From 2008 to 2009 in Angola , Dr Lonla Eric worked for the Italian Ministry of External Affairs as TB consultant in the Angolan national TB program; a program financed by the Global Fund. During his staying on Angola, Dr. Lonla was also the doctor of the Italian Embassy in Angola.

Dr. Lonla worked as a prison medical doctor for five years in Milan (Italy) and in Geneva (Switzerland), respectively for the Italian Ministry of Justice and for the University of Geneva Hospital.

Dr. Lonla also worked for “Médecins Sans Frontieres”, the Switzerland and the Belgium section, respectively in Mozambique as doctor in charge of HIV treatment and care and in Rwanda as district doctor.

Dr. Lonla studied medicine in Italy, at the University of Pavia; he graduated on October 1994; two years later he obtained the Diploma in Tropical Medicine at the University of Brescia, then the Master degree in
Public Health at the “Université Libre de Bruxelles” in Belgium in 2001 and the PhD in 2005 at the University of Milan.

His activities focused on health systems strengthening, TB-HIV treatment and care in resources limited countries, penitentiary medicine and tropical diseases surveillance.
